Sports Ministry to fund SLTA Squad Training Programme

The Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) and the Ministry of Sports signed an agreement for the High-Performance Training Programme at the SLTA premises in Green Path yesterday.

Under this agreement the Sports Ministry will be funding partially as a part of the National Squad Training Programme.

This occasion also marks the first time the SLTA is signing a long-term agreement with the Ministry of Sports for the players' development.

Once the COVID-19 pandemic situation is controlled, the National Squad Programme will also be started soon.

The SLTA thanked the Ministry of Sports for joining hands with them for this initiative and hoped for a successful partnership in the journey to take Sri Lanka Tennis to a higher level

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa, Director General - Ministry of Sports, Amal Edirisooriya, President - National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, Suresh Subramanium, President - SLTA Iqbal Bin Issack, General Secretary - SLTA, Pradeep Goonasekera, a few acclaimed tennis players of Sri Lanka and members of the Sports Council were present at this event.
