Shammi Silva was re-elected uncontested, as President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), for the 2021 to 2023 period at the virtual election held at the SLC Headquarters in Maitland Place yesterday.

This was the first time that the cricket election was conducted on a virtual platform.

Shammi Silva was elected uncontested as the main opposition party (Mathivanan camp) withdrew their nominations two days before the election.

The election results were declared by the Election Committee of SLC, which consisted of Justice Malani Gunaratne (Chairman), and two other members Justice Shiromi Perera and Dr. D. M. R. B. Dissanayake.

“I am thankful for the membership for electing me uncontested as the President of SLC,” Shammi Silva told the Daily News yesterday.

“This victory also proves the fact that our stakeholders have understood the yeomen service my previous administration has rendered for the development of the game,” he added.

Except for the post of Assistant Treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyadda, all other officials were re-elected for the same posts.

SLC office-bearers for 2021-2023: Shammi Silva (Chairman), Mohan Silva: (Secretary), Ravin Wickramaratna (Deputy-Chairman), Jayantha Dharmadasa (Deputy Chairman), Krishantha Kapuwatta (Assistant Secretary), Lasantha Wickramasinghe (Treasurer), Sujeewa Godaliyadda (Assistant Treasurer), Tournament Committee Chairman: Samantha Dodanwela, Controlling Club Representatives: Janaka Pathirana and Nalin Aponso, Affiliated Club Representative: Priyantha Algama, Umpires Committee Chairman: Bandula Dissanayake.
