All-round Sithija Chamod shines in U-19 Cricket Tourney

Right-hand middle-order batsman and right-arm leg-spinner Sithija Chamod had an outstanding season for Gurukula MV, Kelaniya during the concluded Inter-Schools Under-19 Cricket Tournament.

In 2015, playing in the Under-15 Division One Tournament, he scored 430 runs with three fifties and in the following year he scored 460 runs with four half-centuries.

He hit a top score of 86 against President’s College, Kottte. His first year in the Under-17 Tournament was in 2017 and he scored 2,070 runs and in the second year he captained the team and amassed 480 runs in five matches with three fifties.

He hit a top score of 89 and in the same year with these performances under his belt he was selected to the First Eleven Cricket Pool.

In 2018 and 2019 season in 12 outings he scored 586 runs with four half-centuries and played in the Big Match and in the Limited Over Match under Sachithra Samith, against their traditional rivals Dharmaloka MV, Kelaniya.

In 2019/20 season, playing in 12 matches, he scored 570 runs with four fifties and in the concluded season he scored 186 runs in the first round from five matches with a top score of 87 against Trinity College.
