Pyramid Wilmer and Abans Group in to MCA ‘G’ division 25 over League final

Pyramid Wilmer and Abans Group advanced to the final of the 10th Stafford Motor Co. sponsored, ‘Honda’ Trophy – MCA ‘G’ division 25 over League Tournament 2021.

In the first sSemi final at MCA on Saturday, Pyramid Wilmer ended Hayleys Group ‘B’ unbeaten run with an unexpected 02 wickets win.

In the second semi final also @ MCA on Sunday, Abans Group romped to a comfortable 46 runs win over Zillion Systems.

Hayleys ‘B’ who remained as the only unbeaten team, easily the tournament favorites, may be through sheer compliancy, crumbled to 79 runs in 23.2 overs as the Pyramid Wilmer opening bowlers, Supun Sandeepa (05/16/03) and Udesh Nishan (4.2 /10/03) ripped through Hayleys strong top order batting line up.

Hayleys fought back tooth and nail and had Pyramid Wilmer by the ropes, they losing 06 wickets for 55 runs in 15.4 overs; but No. five batsman, Lasith Fernando (19 runs in 43 balls) and No. 08 batsman Udesh Nishan (12 runs in 22 balls with 01 six ) held on grimly with a valuable 22 runs stand for the 07 th wicket to see them through with 02 wickets in hand in 22.1 overs (80 for 8).

In Sunday’s semi final, Abans Group put up a challenging total of 161 runs in 25 overs, Dinesh Rangana top scoring with 48 runs in 34 balls, inclusive of four sixes and 01 four.

Zillion Systems was never in the hunt, as their batsmen were shackled by Abans spinners, Dinesh Rangana, thus completing a grand double and Isuru Jayaratne, who bagged three wickets a piece.

The Final between Pyramid Wilmer and Abans Group will take place on second May at the MCA Grounds, commencing 10:00 am.
