Nadun Nimesha Rajapaksha excels in karate

Fourteen year old athlete and up and coming Black Belt Karate Holder Karuna Pedige Nadun Nimesha Rajapaksha has brought honour and fame to his school Wekada Maha Vidyalaya Dankotuwa and he was born on 11th day of January 2007 and initially he was admitted to Dickwella Primary School in 2013 when Mr. Balasuriya was the Principal of the school and his first class teacher was Mrs. Nirmala Kumari.

When he was in Grade Three he participated in the Inter House Sports Meet in 2015 and he came first in 100 metres and his House Team won the skipping event and 4x100 relay team won their event. In the following year he came second in 100 metres and the Master in Charge of Athletcs was Mr. Priyadarshana. In 2017 his parents Nishantha Nuwan Rajapaksha and Nirmala Kumari insisted their son to take up to Karate and in 2017 he commenced Karate and he came under school karate coach Asela Sumith Lasantha and his first attempt was Puttalam District Do Karate Association Meet and he grabbed Gold Medals for Kumite and Kata In the following year too at Puttalam District meet he won Gold Medals for Kumite and Kata and in the NWP Meet he was placed third in Kata and second in Kumite and in 2019 at the Puttalam Meet he won a Gold for Kata and at the NWP Meet he won Golds for both these events and at the All Island Inter Schools Meet held at Albert F. Peiris Stadium he won a Gold for Kumite and a Gold for Kata.
