Nadeera Vimashi fine athlete and volleyball player

Seventeen year old up and coming Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Player and Best Volleyball Player of the school in 2018 and the under 16 Girls Athletics Champion 2018 Kadaragamage Nadeera Vimashi Perera has brought honour and fame to her Alma Mater Wekada Maha Vidyalaya, , Yogiyana, Dankotuwa. She was born in 2003 and she was admitted to her first school Anurudda Maha Vidyalaya Lunuwila, Wennappuwa and the then Principal was M Dharmapriya and her first class teacher was Mrs. Upamali.

Though Nadeera was keen in sports from her childhood there were no sports activities in her school and in 2014 she was admitted to Grade Six of Wekada Maha Vidyalaya Dankotuwa and in 2015 her parents Vimal Perera and Anushi Dilrukshi encouraged their daughter to take up to volleyball and she came under her school volleyball coach and Prefect of Games Saman Bandara.

Her first attempt was to participate in the Tikiri Volleyball Tournament in the under 13 age group but their team was un successful. In the same year they won the Divisional Tournament but they lost at the Zonal Tournament. In 2016 they were the Divisional and Zonal Champions . In 2017 and 2018 they came up to the Provincial Level but they could not come up to expectations and in 2019 they were the second runner up in the Inter School Provincial Tournament.

She captained the school under 13, 15, 16 and 18 volleyball teams and at the School Prize Giving she was awarded a merit certificate and a medal and in the school sports meet in 2018 she was adjudged as the Best Volleyball Player of the year. In the mean time she participated in the under 16 category in the schools sports meet and swept the board winning the 400, 800 and 1500 metre events and she was the Champion Athlete. In the same year her school participated at the Beach Volleyball Tournament and her school were the All Island Runners Up and her partner was Sithmi Nurasha and in this context her Principal Mr. Wasantha and the Prefect of the Games of the school and the Coach Saman Bandara are always supportive.
