Karate Gold Medalist and Black Belt Holder. Vimansa Nimsara Perera has brought honour and fame to his Alma Mater Sandalankawa Central College. In 2011 he was admitted to Sri Rathanapala Maha Vidyalaya Hendigala, Giriulla when the Principal was Sasiri Gamini Kumara and his first Class Teacher was Mrs. Menike. He participated in the 100 meters race in the Annual Inter House Sports meet in 2015 and came second and also participated in the Zonal Meet . He did not take much interest in athletics and as he showed a interest in Karate his parents Roshan Wimalasiri Perera and P. M. Priyadarshana handed over their son to the ISKU Karate Academy Coach Sugath Kumara in 2015.
In 2016 his first meet was 21st KENSHO International Karate Open-Do Championship and he won a Gold Medal for Kumite in the under 11 age group and in 2017 at the SFKF Open Karate Championship he ended up among the Best Eight and received a Merit Certificate and in the fifth Kumite Championship held in Kurunegala he won a Gold in Kumite
At the North Western Province Kata Championship he won another Gold for Kumite and in the 4th Open International Semi Contact Karate Championship he got a Bronze Medal and in the 6th Kurunegala District Karate-Do Championship he won another Bronze and at the 27th North Western Karate Championship held in Kuliyapitiya University in 2018 he won a Bronze in Kumite
Then in the Sub-Junior under 13 Sri Lanka National Karate Championship he recorded the Best performance and at the 7th Kurunegala District Karate Championship he won a Gold for Kumite in the under 15 age group in 2019 and at the 28th North Western Province Karate Championship he won a Gold in Kumite and in the ISKU International All Island Kata Championship in under 14/15 age group Online Competition he received a Gold Medal and in the same year he was awarded the Black Belt for his achievements In this connection his Principal Asanka Gamini and Mrs. Erandi were always supportive.
