Sri Lankan high jumper Ushan Thiwanka based in Texas, USA set a new Sri Lankan Indoor record with a performance of 2.25m at the Lone Star Conference Track and Field Meet yesterday.
The 23-year-old former athlete of Maris Stella College, Negombo who is currently attached to the Texas A & M University was also able to achieve his personal best effort at this Meet.
With this achievement, Thiwanka also reached Sri Lanka’s Elite Pool Qualifying standard of 2.2m.
Earlier, Thiwanka set a new meet record at the Crimson and Gold Invitation Indoor Athletic Meet with a performance of 2.21m. (D.R)
