Thimansa outstanding athlete and swimmer

Thimansa Thewnaki Herath , a Grade Eleven student of Lexicon International School,Kandy is an outstanding Athlete and an up and coming swimmer. Her AthleticCoach was Sanjeewa Weerakkody and the Swimming Coach A.Nandana of the School. Thimansa started her athletic career in 2015 and at the start she won the75 metre race representing Iris House of the school and she went on to win 50 metre race, Long Jump and was adjudged the Best Athlete at the Under 11 age category and in 2016 she secured the second place in the 200 metre event at the Kandy District Athletic Meet as the sole winner among the girls who participated.

At the Junior John Tarbat Athletic Meet she received a merit award and she secured the School Under 16 Championship and again she won the third place in 100 metre and 200 metre races at the Kandy District Athletic Meet conducted by the Department of Education, Kandy.

While participating in athletics Thimansa started swimming under a Private Swimming Coach practicing at the Swimming Pool of Dharmaraja College,Kandy undergoing strenuous practice for 10 months before she participated at the swimming contest organized by the Kingswood College in the year 2015 and she secured the third place in the Back stroke. In the following year she secured the second place at the same swimming meet in the Backstroke and she is involved in swimming to keep herself quite fit to do athletics. She wants to continue her pet sport of athletics to become a National and Internationl level athlete in short distance running.

The Lexicon International School,Kandy has appointed Thimansa as the School Games Captain for the year 2020 – 2021 as she is the first athlete of the school who has participated in many athletic races and become the champion among girls. Thimansa being a bright Student her ambition is to continue athletics as well as her studies and to become an Air Hostess in the future. She is thankful to her Athletic Coach, Sanjeewa Weerakkody for the support and guidance given to her to improve her talent in athletics.
