Thehan, Dumindu cruise to SSC Open semis

Thehan Wijemanne and Dumindu Dilum powered their way to the semi-finals of the Men’s Open Singles event at the SSC Open Tennis Tournament, worked off at the SSC Courts in Maitland Place yesterday.

Wijemanne overcome Dinusha Wijesuriya after his opponent retired during the second set while Dilum recorded a hard fought 3-6, 6-0, 10-7 win over Nishendran Sivendran.

Results:

Men's Open Singles (quarter-finals): Luca Knese beat Jaithra de Saram 6-1, 6-7 (3), 10-1. Sanka Athukorala beat Archana Lokuge 6-4, 6-1. Gayanath Senadeera beat Avika Kelegama 6-3, 6-1. Thehan Wijemanne beat Dinusha Wijesuriya 6-2, 2-1 and retired. Dumidu Dilum beat Nishendran Sivendran 3-6, 6-0, 10-7.

Women's Open Signals (quarter-finals): Janali Manamperi beat Arella De 6-0, 6-0. Sethmi Sumanaweera beat Nishkha Vivekanandan 6-1, 3-6, 10-3. Nelani Jayasuriya beat Menuki Wanniarachchi 6-1, 6-0.
