Sri Lanka poorly placed in Test, One Day and T20 Rankings

The Sri Lanka Cricket team which left for the West Indies early morning yesterday is poorly placed in all three formats in the recently released ICC world rankings. They will strive to regain their lost prestige by overcoming the West Indies during the forthcoming series in the Caribbean. The two captains Dimuth Karunaratne (Test and One Days) and Dasun Shanaka (T20I) will face an acid test when they face the Windies, who will field a blend of youth and experienced outfit.

Seasoned campaigners like Kieron Pollard, Jason Holder, Darren Bravo, Shai Hope, Kraigg Brathwaite, Rosten Chase, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel along with talented youngsters, Kyle Mayers (who scored a double century against Bangladesh at debut), off spinner Rahkeem Cornwall and batsmen Jermaine Blackwood, Nkrumah Bonner and Joshua Da Silva will provide the sparkle for the home team.

The experienced Sri Lankan batting trio of skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, ex-skippers Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews will have to shoulder the responsibility of giving the Lankans a respectable totals along with inform new comers Pathum Nissanka, Danushka Gunathilake and hard hitting Thisara Perera.

Sri Lankan pace attack of Suranga Lakmal, Asitha Fernando, Dushmantha Chameera and rookie left arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka should strive to keep the free scoring Windies batsmen in check along with the spin trio of Lakshan Sadakan, Akila Dhananjaya and Wanindu Hasaranga.
