Ruvi emerge U-14 champion at Colombo Open

Ruvi Lewkebandara emerged champion of the Girls’ Under-14 Singles event at the Colombo Open Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

The schoolgirl from Gateway College, Colombo powered her way into a straight set 6-2, 6-1 victory over Dinara de Silva in the final encounter.

The results:

Boys’ Under-12 (final): Lithum Jayabandu beat Methika Wickramasinghe 2-6, 6-2, 10-6.

Girls’ Under-14 (final): Ruvi Lewkebandara beat Dinara de Silva 6-2, 6-1.

Boys’ Under-14 Double (final): Ransath Peiris and Sandaru Guruge beat S. Usgodaarachchi and Thatuk Marasinghe 6-1, 7-6 (3).

Girls’ Under-16 (semi-finals): Hasali Gajaba beat Vishmi Serasinghe 6-3, 6-4. (A.N)
