Seventeen year old Prabuddha Premalal excelled for Ibbagamuwa Central College in the Under 19 Division III inter Schools Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association
Right hand batsman Prabuddha Premalal scored 1144 runs in 11 matches with a double century, two centuries and six half centuries in the 2019/20 season. He maintained a71.50 average in the season.
Prabuddha Premalal was born on 21st February in 2003 at Ibbagamuwa. He commenced his cricket career at Ibbagamuwa Central College in the under 13 age limit under his first coach Dilip Chandrasekara in 2014. He represented the under 13 ‘B’ team in that year. He represented the college under 13 ‘A’ team in 2015 and 2016. He scored 575 runs with a double century and century in the season of 2016.
He was deputy skipper of the college under 15 team in 2017. He scored over 200 runs in six matches with two half tons. He represented Kurunegala and North Western under 15 teams in the Prima Champion Trophy inter district and inter provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in the same year. He scored 379 runs in 10 matches with half tons in the under 15 cricket season 2018.
He was deputy skipper of the college under 17 team in 2019. He scored only 210 runs with a century. He represented the college first XI team as a fresher in 2017/2018 season under the guidance of Mrs. Nirodha Abeywickrame, Principal, Suranga Ranatunge, Master In charge and coaches Dilip Chandrasekara and Prasanna Karunawansha, He scored 278 runs in a few matches. He represented the college first XI team in the 2018/19 season. He scored only 337 runs.
Prabudhha Premalal helped Ibbagamuwa Central College advance to the quarter finals. He made unbeaten 204 runs against Azhar Central College Akurana. He made centuries against C.W.W. Kannangara Central College Matugama (151) and Nugawela Central College (138). He made half centuries against St. Xavier’s Marawila (74), Sir John Kotalawala Kurunegala (94), Azhar Central Akurana (84), Royal Polonnaruwa (56), Methodist High School Moratuwa (96 & 51) in the season.
