KDCA to conduct Twenty20 cricket tourney

A T20 inter schools cricket tournament is due to get underway this month. For the first time Kandy District Cricket Association has planned for an Under 19 Kandy District Schools Twenty20 Tournament, which will be worked off from 12th March. The event will feature eight teams. The matches will be played under Twenty 20 rules.

The teams in “Group A” will be Trinity College, Kingwood College, Dharmaraja College and Sri Sumangala College.

“Group B” will comprise St. Anthony’s College, Sri Rahula College, St. Sylvester’s College and Vidyartha College.

The winners and runners-up will be presented with trophies, and there will be awards for Player of the Tournament, Man of the Match, Best Batsman, Bowler, and Fielder

The first game is on 12th March - between Dharmaraja College and Sri Sumangala College at Lake View grounds in the morning, same day in the afternoon St. Sylvester’s College will play their rivals Vidyartha College at the same venue in the afternoon. On 13th - Trinity College vs. Kingswood College at Asgiriya Stadium, 15th March -St. Anthony’s College vs. Sri Rahula College at St. Anthony’s grounds,Katugastota. The two top teams of each group will play in the semi -finals and the winners of the semis will play the final.
