Seventeen year old Mahindu Malith does Nalanda, Minuwangoda proud

Mahindu Malith Bandara Wijeratne, 17 years old left hand middle order batsman and left arm leg-spinner of Nalanda Boys’ School Minuwangoda turned in a fine all ound performances in the Under 19 Division III inter Schools Cricket (2 day) tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association in 2019/20 season.

Mahindu Malith scored 575 runs with a century and two fifties and claimed 45 wickets in 13 matches in the 2019-20 school cricket season. His best batting performance was101 runs against De La Salle College Colombo. He made two fifties against Welapura MV Kalutara and Carey College Colombo.

Nalanda Boys’ School Minuwangoda entered the quarter final in the division three two day tournament. (Due to the prevailing health concerns (Covid-19), the SLSCA decided to postpone the ongoing Under 19 tournament matches until further notice. (From March 15)

Mahindu Malith was born on 4th January 2003 at Gampaha. He commenced his cricket career at Nalanda Boys’ School Minuwangoda under Omila Wickramasinghe Cricket coach of the school. Malindu represented the under 13 team in 2015. He represented the school under 13 team in division two tournament in 2016. He scored over 450 runs with a century and two fifties. He scored 152 runs against St. Joseph Vaz College ‘B’ team. Nalanda Boys’ School Minuwangoda advanced to the semi final and was promoted to division One from year 2017. He represented the school under 15 team and scored more than 100 runs and claimed 20 wickets in 2017. He represented the school first XI team as a fresher in the season of 2017/2018. He scored over 250 runs with three half centuries and claimed 58 wickets. He represented the Gampaha District Zone One under 15 team for the Prima Champions Trophy inter district tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in the same year. He scored more than 250 runs with two fifties and claimed 24 wickets in the under 19 schools Cricket season of 2018/19.

He scored over 150 runs and claimed 21 wickets in the under 17 division two inter schools cricket tournament in 2019.
