Santhush an excellent swimmer

Santhush Naveen Dissanayake started his School career in the year 2006 from the Grade.one Class at Dharmaraja College,Kandy and he was interested in Swimming from his younger days. He started his Swimming career in the Year 2009 under the coaching of U.H. Sugath and took part in a swimming Meet for the first time in 2011 at the Central Province swimming meet and came out with successful results by winning the Gold Medal in 50 metre Butter-fly event and came a close second in the Free Style event in which Santhush won a Silver Medal in the under 12 age category.

In 2012 he won Silver Medals for the 50 Metre and 200 Metre Individual Medley and a Bronze Medal for the 50 Metres. Back Stroke in the Under 14 age group. In 2013 at the 9th CP Swimming meet again he won two Gold Medals for 50 Metres.and 100 Metres. Back Stroke and a Silver for 100 metres Free Style event and for the 200 Metres.

Free Style and Individual Medley Bronze medals. He continued in the following year i.e. 2014 and he won a Gold Medal for the 200 Metres. Back Stroke and a Bronze Medal for 100 Metres. in Open men’s Category. In 2015 he repeated his success when he won a Gold Medal for 200 Metres.Back Stroke and Silver medals for 100 Metres. and 50 Metres.

Back Stroke at the 41st National Sports Festival of C.P held at Peradeniya University Pool.

In 2016 he climbed up the ladder of Success in winning a Silver medal in 50 Metres.Back Stroke in the Open Men’s Category. In 2017 he won the 50 Metres. 100 Metres. & 200 Metres Back Stroke at the CP Swimming Meet organized by the Department. of Education at the Sports Festival. He was also a member of the 4 x 50 Metres. School Medley Relay team which won the Silver Medal at the 42nd National Sports Festival in the same year. In 2018 too he performed the same feat by winning the 50 Metres, 100 M. and 200 Metres. Back Stroke at the CP Swimming Meet.

He participated in the 77th,80th.81st two Mile Sea Swim held at Mt.Lavinia without success. He was appointed Swimming Captain of the School team and received the highest Sports award of ‘Dagaba’ at the Colours Award Ceremony.

In 2019 he won the 50 Metres. and 100 Metres. Back Stroke, 50 Metres. Free Style and 100 Metres. Free Style,200 Metres.Individual Medley and was adjudged the Best Swimmer at the Vidudaya Ritzbury Inter School Swimming Championship in the Under 19 age group held at the Jayawardenapura University Swimming pool.

Santhush is grateful to his Coach U.H. Sugath and School Coach S.Nithyanandhan and his parents for the support given to him.He has got through his A/L and is intending to become a Pilot in future.
