Outstanding cricketers of Dharmaraja felicitated

The Colombo Branch of the Old Boys Association of Dharmaraja College,Kandy organized a ceremony to award trophies and cash prizes to the outstanding cricketers of 1st XI cricket team of the School. This Annual event was held for the last 15 years and this time it was held at the Headquarters of the OBA on the 2nd of December,2020.

This year the Best Batsman’s award was presented to Dulaj Bandara,the Captain of the Cricket team, Best Bowlers award to Upendra Warnakulasuriya, Vice Captain of the team and the Best All-rounder was Yasith Samararatne .The other winners were Sahan Siriwardena, Isuru Dayananda and Thushan Herath. They were awarded cash prizes as well as trophies and the PL Arthur Alwis Memorial Trophy for the Best Batsman, Major General Nalin Angammana Memorial trophy for the Best Bowler and the T.B.Talwatte Memorial Trophy for the Best All-rounder. T.B. Talwatte was the Captain of the Dharmaraja Cricket team in 1942 and 1943 and became the first centurian who scored 100 against Jinaraja College.

In addition he scored another Century against Kingswood in the ‘Big Match’ , PL Arthur Alwis was the Captain of the team of 1944 and scored a century as Talwatte was injured but after treatment Talwatte also completed his Century. Maj.Gen. N.K.B.Angammana captained in the early part of 1965 Cricket Season and won the Daily News ‘Best Bowlers’ award in 1964.

The annual event was organised by D.M.Dharmathillake, a distinguished old Boy Of the School. D.M.Dharmathillake was an all round sportsman and he was the Former General Manager of C.G.R.
