Ganuka Fernando and Denara de Silva won the Boys and Girls under-12 singles Championships respectively after defeating Abdul Cader and Dulkini Ranasinghe in the finals of the Sri Lanka Tennis Nationals 2020 at their hard courts yesterday.
Ganuka Fernando from St. Josaph’s College, Negombo had the better of his rival Abdul Cader from D.S.Senanayake College with a two sets to nil victory while Denara from St.Brijets Convent, Colombo sealed victory with a two sets to nil win against Dulkini Ranasinghe of Vsiskha Vidayala, which almost ended up in a one sided affair.
Meanwhile, in the under 18 age group, Chathurya Nilaweera and Luca Knese won their semi-final matches and will meet in the final. Oneli Perera and Svni Jayasuirya reserved their berths in the under girls’ under 18 singles final after winning their semifinal matches.

Boys under-18 (semifinals)- Chathurya Nilaweera beat Thehan Wijemanne 7/6 (3) 6/2 and Luca Knese beat K. Vairavanathan 7/6, 6/1
Girls under-18 (Semi finals)- Svini Jayasuriya beat Dewmini Warnasuriya 6/2 6/1 and Oneli Aperera beat Sethmi Sumanawèera 6/2 6/1. (A.N.)
