Stokes to miss Sri Lanka series

Thursday : Ben Stokes is unlikely to be available for England’s two-Test series in Sri Lanka after the death of his father.

The series will be played next month in a biosecure bubble in Galle. Originally scheduled for March, it was postponed when England were forced to return home early as the coronavirus pandemic began to take hold.

Jonny Bairstow is set to earn a recall, a year after playing the most recent of his 70 Tests, and has withdrawn from a commitment to play for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash T20 tournament in Australia. Stokes, 29, is not expected to be included in the squad after the death of his father, Ged, from brain cancer in New Zealand this week.
