Fifteen year old first eleven player, middle order right hand bat, left arm leg spinner, safe fielder, all rounder Peththa Yakdehige Sithum Vihanga Sathsindu is an up and coming cricketer of Devananda Vidyalaya Ambalangoda. Sithum was admitted to Devananda Vidyalaya to the Grade One in 2012 when Mr. Suriyaarachchi was at the helm of the school and his first class teacher was Mrs. Pushpa. His parents Iresh Buddhika and Mrs. Kumudini Lakmali with lot of hope admitted their son to the present school but unfortunately Sithum lost his father due to an accident.
Sithum joined the School Cricket Academy in 2012 and came under Mr. Suraj at the age of seven years. In the following year he was selected to the under 13 team and excelled in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 With his five year experience in the team in 2019 he passed the 300 run mark with two half centuries versus Prince of Wales’ College and Holy Cross College and claimed 33 wickets with two five wicket hauls under Mr. Sagara. He was the Vice Captain in his last year.
Noticing his talents at the age of 14 years his senior coach T. Milton selected him to the first eleven cricket team in 2019 as the “Baby of the Team” and played in 2019/20 cricket season and passed the 150 run mark in 12 outings. Unfortunately he could not play in the Big Match and the Limited Over Match against their arch rivals Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda.
He was selected for the under 15 Galle District Team to play in the Prima Cup. But the tournament was postponed.
He captained the Balapitiya Sports Club under 15 team in the T/20 tournament.
