Maheesh Theekshana to play in Abu Dhabi Ten10

Twenty year old, Sri Lanka Army Cricketer, uncapped Sri Lankan player and old Ben Maheesh Theekshana has been included in the Northern Warriors team in the upcoming edition of Abu Dhabi Ten10.

He is the youngest Sri Lankan player in this tournament. He studied at Susamayawardhane MV Colombo, Sri Siddhartha MMV Sedawatte and St. Benedict’s College Kotahena. This tournament will be held from January 28 to February 6, 2021 at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

All-rounder Maheesh was the member of Sri Lanka Army SC Cricket team. He was a right hand batsman and right arm off-break bowler. He likes to emulate Ajantha Mendis’s magic Carrom ball He played only one match in LPL for Jaffna Stallions.

Maheesh Theekshan was born on1st of August 2000. He lived in Sedawatte and attended Susamayawradhane Maha Vidyalaya Colombo 8 in 2006 for grade One. He joined Sri Siddhartha Madya Maha Vidyalaya Sedawatte in 2017. He studied at this school from grade 2 to grade 10. He started his Cricket career at Asoka de Silva School of Cricket under head coach Thilak De Silva and W.A.D.S. Ramyajith in 2010. Sri Siddhartha MMV started Cricket in 2011. Theekshana started schools Cricket career under coach Rukshan Foux. He represented the school under 13 teams from 2011 to 2013.

He claimed more than 20 wickets with two hat tricks and scored more than 150 runs with two half centuries in the under 13 tournament in 2013. He represented the school under 15 team in 2014 at Sri Siddhartha MMV. He scored more than 250 runs with three half centuries and claimed 24 wickets in the under 15 division III tournament in 2014.

He joined St. Benedict’s College Kotahena in 2015. He scored over 600 runs with a century and four fifties as an opener in the under 15 division One tournament in 2015. He made a century against Maris Stella College Negombo. He was adjudged the most valuable player in the tournament. He scored 169 runs with two fifties in three matches and claimed seven wickets, His best bowling performance is 4 wickets for 30 runs against North Western province. He represented the school under 19 team as a fresher in only four matches in 2015/16. He scored 120 runs and claimed 17 wickets in the under 17 tournament in 2016. He scored 730 runs with a century and five half centuries in the season of 2016/17. He made a century against Thurstan College Colombo.

He claimed 53 wickets with 4 five wicket hauls 17 year old Theekshana represented Colts CC under 23 in the Premier under 23 tournament in 2017. He claimed 19 wickets in three matches in this tournament. He scored 270 runs with three fifties and claimed 22 wickets in the under 17 tournament in 2017. He scored more than 650 runs with two centuries and three fifties.and claimed 74 wickets with 6 five wicket hauls. He made centuries against Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda and Zahira College Colombo. He was awarded Sunday Observer Mobitel “Best all-rounder in division One. He represented Western Province North under 19 team in the under 19 inter provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2017. He was selected for the Sri Lanka Under 19 squad with 25 members. Maheesh Theekshana scored more than 500 runs with four half centuries. He made a century against Nalanda Colombo in the limited over match.

He claimed 94 wickets with 9 five wicket hauls and a 10 wicket haul. He represented the champion Western province under 23 team in the under 23 provincial tournament in 2017.

He represented Colts CC in the Premier Limited overs and T20 inter club tournament in the seasons 2018, 2019 and 2020. His best bowling performance in the Premier T20 is 5 for 34 runs against SSC. He represented Sri Lanka ‘A’ SLC Board President’s XI against Ireland ‘A’ in 2019. He joined the Gajaba Regiment of Sri Lanka Army in August 2020. He represented Jaffna Stallions in the LPL tournament. He played only one match against Colombo Kings. His bowling performance was 0/17 in 3 overs (Strike rate 5.67). Y K
