SA tour in the balance until health clearance

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is awaiting health guidelines from the Health Authorities to pursue with the South African tour, which is scheduled to commence mid-December.

The two-Test tour is tentatively scheduled to begin from end of next month, and the SLC is to finalize the tour after receiving the green light from the Health Ministry.

The Sri Lanka team will be in a bio security bubble in South Africa until they disembark after the tour. They are scheduled to fly on a regular flight but will return on a special charter flight. This arrangement has been made due to the upcoming England series beginning mid-January. Upon arrival they will be placed in a health bubble before they see any action.

As per a senior SLC official the plight of the South African tour remains in the balance until Health Guidelines are finalized.

The England team is due to arrive in the first week of January. (AN)
