Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has teamed up with another renowned energy drink sponsor, when they brought on board Red Bull as their ‘Official energy drink partner,’ at a function held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel last Wednesday.

After signing several sponsorships in the recent past, like Official Carbonated partner and Official Drinking Water partner, SLC embarked on another product which is renowned worldwide in the sporting arena. The three-year contract will bring in around nine million rupees in revenue. During the contract period, Red Bull will provide energy drinks to players of both teams on match days during bilateral tours. This is apart from several other considerations, including an investment towards developing the game in Sri Lanka. Under the agreement Red Bull will also have exclusive rights for Energy Drink availability within each stadium and match locations, which shall include the right to engage in the sale, distribution, dispensing, and service of Energy Drinks to the public.

Since its inception in 1987, Red Bull, the pioneer in Energy Drinks as we know it today, has remained true to its promise of ‘Giving Wings’ to people and ideas. The brand strives at each turn to bring about the daring men and women of the world to achieve their dreams and ideas by ‘vitalizing body and mind.’

“We are indeed happy that a world renown product like Red Bull has come forward to partner SLC when we were looking for partners of this calibre. Cricket is all about making partnerships and this partnership which we established today will continue to grow and will be a valuable asset for us. On the other hand, we are confident that Red Bull will take this opportunity to enhance their brand globally,” said Mohan de Silva, Secretary, SLC.

Brendon Kuruppu, the former Sri Lanka Player and Global Tournament Director for Red Bull Campus Cricket, also graced the occasion and said: “Red Bull, over the past years, has been able to contribute successfully to the young sportsmen and women in the island, and Red Bull Campus Cricket, which has been running successfully as the world stage of campus cricket, has added much value to young campus cricketers to compete amongst top international talent from around the world’’.
