Third year coloursman, right hand middle order bat, occasional medium pace bowler, all rounder and safe fielder in any position with a good arm Pasindu Pathum has been appointed by the Principal of Prince of Wales’ College Kusala J. Fernando as the vice captain of first eleven cricket team for the cricket season 2020/21.
Pasindu entered grade one of Prince of Wales’ College and at the age of ten years he was admitted to the College Cricket Academy and he came under Suranga Perera. In the year 2014 he was selected to the under 13 division three cricket team under Kalpa Fernando and passed the 250 run mark with a fifty against St. Sebastian’s College and claimed 15 wickets. In his second year in the same age group he got 350 runs with two half centuries and bagged 15 wickets and in that year Cambrians clinched the all island under 13 division one cricket title.
His under 15 first year was in 2016 in division one and he passed the 400 run mark with three fifties and claimed 20 scalps. In that year Cambrians reached the pre quarter finals beating Mahinda College, Galle subsequently the tournament came to a halt. In his second year in the same age group he totalled more than 350 runs and Cambrians qualified for the quarter finals. With these performances under his belt he was selected to the Colombo South Outer team of Colombo District and for the Western Province. In the mean time Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association selected a 15 members squad for the tour of under 15 team from England and at the eleventh hour this tour was cancelled.
In the under 17 tournament he got 300 runs with the top score of 98 runs against D. S. Senanayake Vidyalaya in that year his coach Kalpa Fernando advised him to focus only on batting. In the following year he scored 400 runs with three half centuries and Cambrians came up to quarter finals and lost to Nalanda.
His first year was in 2018/19 in the under 19 team under Suwath Mendis and he passed the 250 run mark with three fifties and played in the Big Match and in the Limited Over Game where Cambrians beat their arch rivals. This year he scored 530 runs with three fifties and the top score being 65 runs against Palians.. In the two day tournament Cambrians reached quarter finals and against Mahanama when Cambrians were reeling at 27 for 7 he scored 70 runs.
In addition he played for the Rajarata Sports CLub, Anuradhapua.
In seven matches in the Sara Trophy Tournament he scored two fifties and in the under 23 tournament of 2020 he represented Panadura Sports Club and played in three matches and his present coach is former vidyalian Lucky Rogers Fernando.
