SLC T20 Cricket Tourney to begin next month

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will conduct their second competition for the 2020/21 season when the Major Inter-Club Twenty20 Tournament gets underway next month.

The tournament will commence on October 23 with the participation of 26 teams and will conclude with the final scheduled for November 8 at the SSC Grounds in Maitland Place.

Meanwhile, the Sebastianites SC will make a re-entry into Division-1 cricket as they are drawn in Group ‘D’ along with Ragama CC, Badureliya CC, Lankan CC, Panadura SC, Tamil Union and Navy SC.

The defending champions CCC will battle it out in Group ‘A’ together with SSC, Moors SC, Air Force SC, Kalutara TC, Sri Lanka Ports Authority SC and Kurunegala YCC.

The last year runner-up Chilaw Marians SC are included in Group ‘B’ together with Army SC, BRC, Police SC, Galle CC and Nugegoda SC while Group ‘C’ will have NCC, Colts CC, Saracens SC, Negombo SC, Bloomfield and Kandy Customs CC.

The preliminary round fixtures will be worked off until November 3 and thereafter, the two top teams of each group would progress towards the quarter-finals scheduled for November 6.

The two semi-finals of the tournament will be worked off on November 7 at the NCC Grounds in Maitland Place.

The teams:

Group ‘A’: CCC, SSC, Moors SC, Air Force SC, Kalutara TC, SLPA SC and Kurunegala YCC.

Group ‘B’: Chilaw Marians SC, Army SC, BRC, Police SC, Galle CC and Nugegoda SC.

Group ‘C’: NCC, Colts CC, Saracens SC, Negombo SC, Bloomfield and Kandy Customs CC.

Group ‘D’: Ragama CC, Badureliya CC, Lankan CC, Panadura SC, Tamil Union, Navy SC and Sebastianites SC.
