Old Antonians win by 42 runs

Kandy District cricket Association one day 50 over cricket tournament resumed on Sunday, after heavy unseasonal rains forced the tournament to be postponed after thirty interesting games were played out of seventy matches. Once again the tournament is on and in the 31st game Old Antonians Sports Club beat Old Bahuwans Cricket Club by 42 runs at Katugastota. In this game Old Antonians Sports Club won the toss and elected to bat first and went on to score 239 in 50 overs losing all the wickets. Y.. Gamaarachchi 76, D. Bandara 49, in reply Old Bahuwans C.C.. made 144 for 5 in 31 overs D. Asiri 61, Y. Gamaarachchi 2 for 36.

In the 32nd game Old Rajans Sports Club beat Ekmuthu Sports Club by nine wickets. Old Rajan’s SC who won the toss elected to field first and bowled out Ekamuthu Sports Club for 93 runs in 29.2 overs A. Dikkumbura took 5 for 17. In reply Old Rajans S.C. made 94 for 1 in 9.2 over’s M.Wijekoon 57 not out.

Then in the 33rd game Old Antonians Sports Club beat Kandy Bloomfield Cricket Club by103 runs. Kandy Bloomfield Sports Club won the toss and invited Old Antonians Sports Club to take the first lease of the wicket, and they made 239 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allocated 50 over’s. Y. Gamaarachchi 86 and S.Kumara took 3 for 27. In reply KandyBloomfield C.C. were bundled out for 136 in 36.4 over’s. N.Rukshan 50 and C. Ekanayake 5 for 22
