IPL cricket team appeals over ‘short run’ error

'Dickie' Dunuwille jnr a former well known cricket umpire makes his last journey today, Tuesday. His cremation will take place at 10.00 am at the Mahiyawa General Cemetery. He passed away on Monday.

He promoted cricket umpiring in the Central Province and was one time the General Secretary of the Association of Cricket Umpires of Sri Lanka (ACUSL). He made an official tour of England in June 1999 where he had discussions with the Umpires Association of England on various aspects of umpiring and to further improve the standards.

He had his early education at St. Anthony's College and later at Dharmaraja College. He is the younger brother of late Dickie Dunuwille Snr the fampus cricketer and Sunny Dunuwille.

Dickie Dunuwille Jnr. started his umpiring with the Central Province Cricket Umpires Association and later with the Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires Association before the latter was amalgamated with the ACUSL. He was also a member of the Cricket Board's Umpires' panel and officiated at the prestigious Royal – Thomian big match. He was a live wire of the Old Boys Association of St. Anthony’s College and was the Chairman of the Cricket Ball 2002.
