The FFSL President Anura de Silva said that a new program was set to commence the first leg of training under new coach Amir Alagic and his assistant Amir Doksalantc on Jun 22 at the training center at Baddegana abiding with health regulations. Earlier the eighteen member Pool was to undergo the PCR test on June 17 and was to be released for four days but as it will not suit with health regulations FFSL has to postpone the PCR tests for June 21 and to keep the players at the center until the training is completed.
“Once first stage of the training is over they will be released to get back to their homes until the second stage begins” said de Silva. Soon after the PCR test they will stay at the center for seventeen days with the head coach. After addressing the members on June 22 morning at 10.35 a.m. they will start field training at 4.45 p.m. on the same day.
De Silva further said that according to head coach they want to try a new method to appoint a suitable skipper for the side. The present skipper M.N.M. Fzal was appointed as the former skipper was out of action due to an injury. The head coach also said that he is hoping to give the opportunity for every player to control the team during training sessions form which we will be able to find the right person to lead the team. When doing this sort of experiment every player is expected to come out with their best.
When questioned about the second round FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying match scheduled to be played against North Korea he said that though the date is set by the FIFA and AFC the host country has not yet informed of the situation. As President I have made a request to the governing body in Korea but to date the FFSL has not received any response” said de Silva.

Charitha Rathnayake, M. A. Asikoor Rahuman, M. N. Afeel Mohamed, M. N. M. Fazal, Mohamed Habeer Razooniya, M. RiZkhan Faizer, L. M. O. Sajith Kumara, M. N. AbdulBasith, L. H. Kavindu Ishan, M. Rifkhan, K. Dilip Suraj Pieris
