The Special Police Investigation Division of Sports Ministry recorded a statement from former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Aravinda De Silva yesterday with regard to the match- fixing allegations in the 2011 Cricket World Cup final held in Mumbai.
De Silva, who was the Chairman of the National Selection Committee during the 2011 World Cup was summoned to appear before the Special Investigation Unit headed by SSP Jagath Fonseka.
Former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage made allegation that the Cricket World Cup final between Sri Lanka and India was fixed. The Special Investigation Division of the Sports Ministry then recorded a statement from Aluthgamage at his office in Nawalapitiya earlier in this regard.
Earlier Sports Minister Dullas Alahapperuma has ordered an investigation to this allegation and asked for a report on its progress every two weeks. Meanwhile an official attached to the Special Investigation Division of the Sports Ministry said they intend to complete the investigations and submit the report to the Attorney General for legal advice.
