International sides fear they will be STRANDED at T20 World Cup

Australia's one-day series in England in July is unlikely to take place due to travel concerns

Fears over international teams getting stuck at this year's Twenty20 World Cup will feature prominently in the ICC's teleconference talks between chief executives next Thursday.

It is not just the issue of welcoming 15 other nations to Australia for a tournament scheduled for October 18-November 15, if deemed safe to do so, that will be on the agenda but the likelihood of all being able to return home quickly should it be necessary due to further outbreaks of Covid-19 either down under or elsewhere.

Such a contingency will never have been given as much thought when international cricket's leading administrators discuss a way forward for cricket once the current global sporting lockdown dictated by the coronavirus is lifted. Although the ICC insist they have 'time on their side' in planning, the aviation industry is effectively grounded right now and the reopening of all national borders could take months.

Sportsmail understands that concerns over travelling long haul have made Australia's one-day series in England less likely to take place this July, which would clear the way for the West Indies Test series - due to be postponed from its current June 4 starting date at an ECB board meeting next Thursday - to be housed in a new slot.

Lancashire's three Australasian-based players will no longer be featuring in county cricket this season after Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner and BJ Watling mutually agreed terminations of their contracts at Old Trafford.

In addition to that news, Lancashire - who along with Surrey have thus far resisted the game-wide move to furlough players - have announced that their first-team squad have accepted 20 per cent pay cuts for May.

The ICC conference call will also address the plausibility of rearranging World Test Championship series within a timeframe that would allow the inaugural final to be played at Lord's as scheduled next June.
