Sonal’s unbeaten 159 helps Mahanama win

Defending champion St. Joseph’s College Colombo and Mahanama College Colombo advanced to the quarter finals of the ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 19 Division One inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament yesterday.

Mahanama College won first innings against Richmond College Galle at Reid Aveniue and St. Joseph’s College won first innings against St. Anne’s College Kurunegala at Darley Road in pre-quarters.

Sonal Gamage of Mahanama scored unbeaten 159 runs in 227 balls with 15 boundaries and 6 sixes. Sonal and Pawan Rathnayake made 156-run partnership for fourth wicket. Sonal Gamage and Nisal Akash made unbroken 57-run partnership for last wicket.

St. Joseph’s will meet Mahanama College nd Gurukula College Kelaniya will meet Trinity College Kandy in the quarter-finals.

Nalanda College Colombo will meet Prince of Wales College Moratuwa and St. Thomas College Matara will meet St. Anthony’s College Katugastota in the other quarters.
