Lahiru Suminda an outstanding wrestler

 Lahiru Suminda

Wrestler Lahiru Suminda Fernando of Grade 13 has been appointed as the games captain for the year 2020 of Prince of Wales College Moratuwa.

His first meet was Kalutara District Tournament 2015 and he was the runner up in the 38/65 category. In 2016 at the Inter-provincial meet he was third in the 42/65 event participating in the divisional and Zonal meets he won easily in his age category.

Taking part in the Nationals Schools Meet in 2015 he came third, 2016 second place, 2017 first place in 2018 and 2019 third and second places respectively.

In the cadet championship for the Sri Lanka Wrestling pool at Torrington he came third in 48/65 weight and in the Junior National Championship to select the Sri Lanka Squad in December 2019 he came first in the hope of getting selected to the Sri Lanka Squad.

In all school sports meets from 2015 to 2020 in the inter house Wrestling he has won the second place twice and the first place on four occasions. He was awarded Merits for the years 2015 to 2017 and in the year 2018 he won school colours and in the Western Province in 2015 and 2016 he won Merits while 2018 and 2019 he won colours.
