The most prestigious International Schools’ Athletic Championship (ISAC) will commence at the Sugathadasa Stadium today. ISAC has special significance as this is the 20th year celebration of the championship.
This year’s edition will be hosted by Gateway College whose school athletic meet commenced in 2001 and has presently established itself as the flagship sporting event in the international schools calendar.
The event will comprise approximately 2000 athletes from 23 schools islandwide.
Athletes in the caliber of Shelinda Jansen, Sadeepa Henderson, Sachini Diviyanjali and Kavindu Bandara are few of the current Sri Lankan athletes competing for honours.
Horizon International School will be taking part for the first time.
Rohini Alles, managing director of Gateway Group will grace the occasion as chief guest at the opening ceremony and Minister of Foreign Relation, Skill Development, Employment, Labour Relation and Leader of the House of Parliament Dinesh Gunawardene will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
