Sri Lanka has created history when they won gold and silver medals at the South Asian Games beach volleyball events in Nepal.
The eight-member Lankan beach volleyball team (4 men and 4 women) Comprised seven players from Defence Services Volleyball Association, four men's and three women's players. Six of these players (four men and two women) also participated in World Military Games in Wuhan, China. The seven Armed Forces players were felicitated during the Defence Forces Beach Volleyball tournament award ceremony recently. The tournament was conducted under the patronage of Army Sports Director, Brig. Lal Chandrasiri who was the chief guest at the award ceremony. Defence Forces Beach Volleyball Association chairman Brig. Mahesh Abeyratne, Air Force Sports Director Air Comodor Senaka Fernandopulle, Air Force Volleyball chairman Air Comodor Nishantha Thilakasiri and Navy high rankers were also present on the occation.
