CASA, the voice of the shipping industry organises the 22nd CASA Annual Six-a-Side Softball Cricket Tournament today, February 15 at the NCC grounds.
This is the most awaited sporting event of the year for all CASA members and the popularity of the tournament has grown over the years not only among the members but also with other stakeholders due to the high standards maintained by the organizers. There are 51 men’s teams and 18 Ladies’ teams enrolled for this year’s tournament and the organisers expect a large number of spectators will attend to support their participating teams.
This tournament was initiated many years ago, with the hope of building camaraderie amongst employees of different shipping agents. Apart from CASA members, every year there was an active participation from the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, South Asia Gateway Terminal, Colombo International Container Terminal, Sri Lanka Customs, Colombo Dockyard, and Hambantota International Port Group which makes the tournament more competitive and glamorous. ‘Fairfirst Insurance Limited’ is the main sponsor for the tournament which is supported by many sponsors such as Salota International, South Asia Gateway Terminals, Hambantota International Port Group, Colombo International Container Terminal, Colombo logistics and Colombo Dockyard.
