Avishka passes 1000 runs and Sithum captures 100 wickets

Avishka Perera right hand opener and skipper of Nalanda College passed 1000 runs for the season and St Sebastian’s College Katuneriya left-arm leg-spinner Sithum Akilanka took his 100th wicket for the season in the ongoing ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 19 inter-schools cricket tournament yesterday.

Perera scored an unbeaten 112 against Mahinda Galle that took him past the milestone. He has far scored 1042 runs in 13 matches (22 innings) with 3 centuries and 8 half centuries. He is the second batsmen to pass 1000 runs for the season.

Akilanka took 6 wickets for 16 runs against St Mary’s Kegalle to take his tally for the season past the 100-wicket mark.

Karandeniya Central College skipper Samith Isuru scored 228 off 345 balls with 30 fours and 2 sixes against Taxila Central College Horana and Shakthi Udara of Rajasinghe Central College took a match bag of 12 wickets to bowl his school to victory over Christ King Pannipitiya.
