The Akkaraipattu Divisional team emerged champions of the Ampara district table tennis championship held at the Sammanthurai Presidential Secretariat Sports Complex recently.
The Akkaraipattu Divisional team retained championship for the eighth consecutive year beating Nintavul Divisional Team 3:1 in the final. The tournament was organized by the Ampara District Sports Officer M. I. M. Ameer Ali under the guidance of Sports Ministry. The champion Akkaraipattu Divisional team was captained by M.H.Jainydeen and the team comprised I. L. Serifdeen, M. Azahin, M.Musarraf and M. Y. Mihiry. The champion players of this competition will have to compete at Provincial level competition which will be conducted by the Eastern Provincial Department of Sports.
