Wasana Mendis – Best Woman Athlete of Kalutara Zone

The annual Kalutara Zonal Inter-school Colours Awards Ceremony, organized by the Sports Unit on the instructions of asst. Director of Education (Sports and Physical Education) Dimuthu Surangi Lokuge, under the guidance of Zonal Director Mrs. O. M. V. P. Mudalige, was held at the main hall of Agamethi Balika MV Panadura, recently.

The chief guest at the event was Western Province Education Director Sri Lal Nonis and Western Province Education Director Mrs. Dhammika Kulathunga and Kalutara Zonal Education Director O. M. V. Priyani Mudalige graced the occasion.

Among all the colour Awardees of schools, students (girl) of Wadduwa Central College who had won both Elle and Softball Cricket championships under 20 were highly praised by the chief guest since Wadduwa Central College was the only school, which received Colours for two events.

A. D. Wasana Mendis of Agamethi Balika NV Panadura received the Best Woman Athlete’s Cup.

Colours were awarded to the girls, football team of Welapura MV, Kalutara, softball cricket team (boys) of St. John’s College, Panadura, volleyball team of Panadura Agamethi Balika MV, Netball team of Kalutara Balika, Aerobic Gymnastic team of Panadura St John’s college, Weight lifter of Dharmapala MV.

Athletic Colours were awarded to following schools and players.

Sanjaya Srinath – (Magalkanda Buddhist College), A. D. Wasana Mendis – (Agamethi Balika Panadura), U. Thisuli Saswindi – (Sri Sumangala Balika NS), Janash Kumara – (Katukurunda Roman Catholic College), Dinuka DeShan – (Holy Cross, College Kalutara).

Merit Certificates were awarded to the following players and schools.
