Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga and all-rounder Thisara Perera and Women’s cricket captain Chamari Atapattu swept the board at the Sri Lanka Cricket Awards 2019 held at Water’s Edge, Battaramulla on Wednesday night.
Malinga, Sri Lanka’s leading bowler in white ball cricket bagged the Best Bowler’s award in the ODI and T20I categories and Thisara Perera won the Best All-rounder (ODI) and Best Batsman (T20I).
However the largest number of awards for the night was bagged by Chamari who dominated the women’s section winning the Best Batswoman and Best All-rounder (ODI category), Best Batswoman (T20I category) and crowning it all with the Woman Cricketer of the Year award.
Unfortunately Chamari was not present to receive her awards.
There was no award presented to the Men’s Cricketer of the Year for 2018/19.
The awards are presented each year to recognize and reward ‘Cricketing Excellence’ of the cricketing season internationally as well domestic of cricketers who have performed exceptionally during the year.
