Eshan Pieris will remain within the Absolute Racing team for the 2020 season. The Sri-Lankan driver came fifth in the F3 Asian series last year with the team and will graduate up to the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia next season.

The 21-year-old Colombo-native becomes the first driver to be announced for the team and will line up on the grid for the first round of the 2020 season at Vietnam in April.

Pieris is Sri Lanka’s number one motor racing prospect and has already established himself as one to watch in the Asian racing scene; taking his maiden single-seater win in Asian Winter Series at Sepang in February. He has been accumulating solid results, gathering points throughout the season which has led to a top five championship position in the F3 Asian Championship.

Pieris said, “I’m very glad to be joining Absolute Racing again to embark on a new journey in GT car racing and excited to be in PCCA for 2020. They are a great team and the experience I had with them in F3 Asia was awesome. I’m so pleased to continue to work with them in GT cars.”

Absolute Racing has been a powerhouse in the Porsche China supported series from its inception. Last season Absolute Racing serviced teams won the championship in both Overall and Pro-Am classes and took the honours in the Porsche Dealer Trophy.

Team Director Fabien Fior added, “We are delighted for Eshan to join us in our Carrera Cup Asia campaign this year. He had a strong 2019 season in single-seaters and we are happy that Eshan will continue to be part of the Absolute Racing family in 2020. Absolute Racing has a proven record in promoting young drivers and we are pleased to be supporting Eshan in his motorsport career.”

2020 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia calendar features the all-new Hanoi Street Circuit as the championship returns to the Chinese and Singapore Grands Prix, alongside races in Buriram and Bangsaen.

The series has a proven history of supporting young and aspiring drivers with its exclusive motorsport talent development programme - Talent Pool. Open to those aged 16-26, the Talent Pool gives future stars the opportunity to train with Porsche champions, as well as provide a host of financial benefits, including a free entry fee for 2021.
