Lankan team leaves for Pakistan sans Lakmal

The Sri Lanka cricket team takes part in a religious ceremony at SLC headquarters prior to their departure to Pakistan yesterday.

The Sri Lanka cricket team left for Pakistan yesterday to play in a two-Test series which is part of the ICC Test Championships sans their fast bowling spearhead Suranga Lakmal who has contracted dengue and will miss the tour.

Lakmal has been replaced by young fast bowler Asitha Fernando who will join the squad after the first Test as he is part of the Sri Lanka team taking part in the South Asian Games in Nepal. The first Test is scheduled at Rawalpindi from December 11-15 and the second at Karachi from December 19-23.
