Kandy SC open league defence with runaway 26/8 win

Twenty time winners and defending champions Kandy Sports Club thrashed Air Force SC by 26 points (3 goals, 1 try) to 8 (1 try and 1 penalty) to make a winning start to the Dialog ‘A’ division inter-club league season at Nittawela yesterday.

The tone was set early as Kandy SC dominated possession due to some excellent work by the fifteen and led 19-8 at half time.

The scorers for Kandy SC were Nigel Ratwatte, Buwanaka Udangamuwa, Lavanaga Perera and Diluksha Dange with a try apiece with Thilina Wijesinghe doing all the kicking. For the Air Force it was Abishek Fernando who scored the try and Gayan Idamalgoda put over the penalty.

Bad weather affected the game and heavy rain left the ground looking more like a lake during the game.
