Fifth year coloursman right hand bat, right arm off spinner and all-rounder Joseph Manuelge Chamod Sandaru will be captaining Piliyandala Central College first eleven cricket team in the forthcoming 2019/20 cricket season. His deputy will be Ruchira Adikari and this year too they are coached by former Cambrian cricketer Eranga Gunaratne.
Last season he scored 1124 runs with five centuries and five fifties and scored an unbeaten 122 runs in the Big Match and became the first ever player from either school to notched up two successive centuries in a Big Match. Appearing in five innings in four Big Matches he has scored 417 runs at an unbelievable average of 417.0
In two limited over matches he has scored an unbeaten 80 and 61 respectively. He has the distinction of leading his alma mater in under 13, 15, 17 and 19 level. He played for the under 19 provincial tournament for Western Province South and Kandy Super Provincial.
From time to time he was coached by Chanuka Dilshan and Bimal Amerasinghe too.
He is getting all the support from his Principal Captain Darshana Udawatte and Master in Charge of Cricket Aruna Liyanage. This year he was adjudged as the Dialog – 4G Sunday Observer School Boy cricketer of the year 2018/2019 Division two, Emerging best batsman, Best Fielder and School Boy Cricketer Runner up.
