Peterites and Thomians joint champions

St. Peter’s College and S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia emerged joint champions in the first XI category at the fifth annual TPT Hockey Carnival worked off at St. Peter’s Grounds, Bambalapitiya on September 28, 2019 due to adverse weather conditions.

The past stickers of Trinity, St.Peter’s and S. Thomas’ Colleges (TPT) organized the event for the well-being of hockey as a sport and to maintain and strengthen ties between the three schools.

The tournament was conducted in six age group categories - under 14, 16 and 20 while under 30, 40 and over 40 for old boys.

Defending Old Peterites beat Thomians by 4-nil in the Over 40 category while Thomians won the Under 14 title after they beat Trinity College by 1-nil.

Trinity College clinched the under 16 title by 1-nil against Thomians.

Under 30 and 40 finals were not played due to rain while St. Peter’s and S. Thomas' bagged the titles as joint champions.

St. Peter’s hosted the event for the second occasion while next year’s edition will be hosted by Trinity College.

The distribution of awards and closing ceremony was graced by special invitees, past coaches and Priest Community of St. Peter’s College headed by Rector Father Rohitha Rodrigo and the Principals of Trinity College and Warden of S. Thomas’ College.
