Family, friends and the cricketing community will come together to pay their last respects to Aubrey Kuruppu, who will make his final journey today, and has made us all feel a little more alone in the world.
Aubrey was Kandy Cricket’s good friend, former cricketer, coach and administrator. Aubrey died on Friday at the age of 74. His cremation will be held at the General Cemetery Kanatte at 4 pm today.
Aubrey was a much acknowledged player in his time and he helped many young cricketers to do well as a coach.
As cricket promoters of Kandy we are proud that we gave him his chance to get into the KDCA and CPCA to promote the game. All he wanted to do was to give a hand to promote cricket. He was always a fighter and he wouldn’t give in and this was just a spin off of him doing what he wanted to do.
He was proud of what he did in the end and he goes to his grave a happy man having contributed his little bit for the game.
Goodbye Aubrey.
