A splendid 113 runs by Vishva Rajapakse enabled St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa to beat formidable Maris Stella College Negombo on first innings by a massive 169 runs in their inter school under 15 division one tournament cricket match worked off at Wennappuwa. By virtue of this victory Vazians have booked a berth in the Quarter-Finals.
Vashva's innings was studded with eight fours and seven sixes and he occupied the crease for 190 minutes and faced 115 balls. Also he was involved in a fifth wicket stand of 72 runs with Menusha Perera who contributed an unbeaten 24 runs.
Taking the first lease Maris Stella were skittled out for a paltry 48 runs with a fine bowling spell of 6 for 10 runs by Dasun Perera and at stumps Vazians were 217 for 9.
