S. Thomas’ Mt. Lavinia enters semis

S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia entered the semifinal of the ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 17 Division One inter schools cricket tournament yesterday.

S. Thomas’ beat St. Joseph’s College Colombo, the champion of the last season by 73 runs in the quarterfinal played at St. Sebastian’s College ground Moratuwa yesterday.

S. Thomas’ won the toss and elected to bat were bowled out for 161 runs in 48.1 overs. Skipper Ryan Fernando scored 60 runs. Anuk Palihawadana (23) and Isuru Madawala (22) helped to build their innings. Dunith Wellalage captured 3 wickets for 7 runs. Deshan Senevirathne and Yesith Rupasinghe took 2 wickets each. St. Joseph’s bowled out for 88 runs in 31.5 overs. Sheran Fonseka sored 27 runs and Shenuka De Silva scored 21 runs. Randiv Gunasekara claimed 3 wickets for 12 runs. Anuk Palihawadana and Aneesh Kamalchandra took 2 wickets each.

S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia will meet St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa in the semifinal.
