Final leg of Asia Rugby Sevens kicks-off this weekend

The final leg of the Asia Rugby Sevens Series, powered by Dialog Axiata, will kick-off on September 28 and 29 at Racecourse Grounds, Colombo.

The final Sri Lankan leg of the Asia Rugby Sevens Series will be broadcast live on Dialog Television channel number 77, and will also be available via live stream at the ThePapare.com and the Dialog MyTV mobile app. Entrance will be free for the public at the grounds.

On Saturday, the tournament will kick-off from 1.30 p.m. onwards, while the final day’s matches will commence at 10.00 am.

Asian rugby giants Japan will defend its men’s and women’s Sevens title against some stiff opposition, as Hong Kong, China, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, the Philippines and others promise some heart-pounding action. The Tuskers are expected to make further inroads in Colombo, after their spirited performance in Korea and China.

Sri Lanka will play their first game against South Korea on Saturday at 2.58 p.m. and the second game against Hong Kong at 6.38 p.m. under lights.

The national Sevens rugby team is sponsored by Dialog Axiata and is also the proud sponsor of the Sri Lankan national cricket, volleyball and netball teams.

The 13-member Sri Lanka squad for the Colombo leg of the Asia Sevens comprises:

Jason Dissanayaka, Buddima Piyarathna, Dansha Dayan (captain), Dinuk Amerasinghe, Janidu Dilshan, Iroshan Silva, Kevin Dixon, Nishon Perera, Kavinda Keshan, Chathura Senevirathne, Reeza Raffaideen, Sudharaka Dikkumbura, Anuradha Herath.
