Nishantha, Roshita Western Province Carrom Champs

Nishantha Fernanado and Joseph Roshita of SL Navy who represented Colombo District were able to win the Men’s and Women’s single championships respectively in the Western Province Carrom championships held at the CFSL HQ/ Kohuwala recently. This has been organized by the Ministry of Sports and Education of Western Province to select both men and women teams to be represented at the 45th National Sports Festival.

Nishantha Fernando beat Shaheed Hilmy of Royal Collage by 2/1 (18/25, 25/09, 25/13) while

Joseph Roshita beat Detuni Nomaya by 2/0 (25/05, 25/06) at the finals. Hasitha Anuruddha of SL Air Force and Madhuka Dilshani of SL Army positioned as third.

Under the directions of P Kanishka Srilal/ Director Sports of WP, Nishantha Dayasiri/ Sports Officer organized this tournament under the supervision of Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka. Over 150 players took part at this tournament.

There were 04 slams reported by Shaheed Hilmy (02), Nishantha Fernando (01) and M Chitradevi (01).

16 player both men and women were selected to represent WP at the 45th National Sports Festival
