Second year coloursman, left arm leg spinner and left handed batsman Madushan Peiris of Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya, Padukka completed the 2018/19 first eleven cricket season in grand style when he claimed 96 wickets and he has another two years to play for his school.
He commenced his schooling at Medankara Vidyalaya, Horana and durign this period at Medankara there was no cricket but he joined the Rising Star Cricket Academy and played for the under 13 and 15 teams. During this period he was selected to play for the under 15 Kalutara District Team in the Prime Cup and he was in the Provincial Squad. From there he had a small stint with Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Kottawa and in 2017 he joined Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya and came under their cricket coach Hiran Gunawardene.
Last year he got a chance to play for the under 17 team in six matches and captured 16 wickets and played for the under 17 division two finals against S. Thomas College, Mt. Lavinia and Siri Piyarathana were the Runner up and in semi finals versus Taxila Central, Horana he bagged 6 for 28.
Last season playing in the first eleven team in sixteen matches he was unlucky to miss the magical 100 wickets by four scalps and played in the Big Match too. He had two ten wicket hauls and 14 for 120 as the best against Seethawaka Central College and had 6 five wicket hauls and the best being 6 for 75 versus Anuradhapura Central.
